Former Alternate Assumes York Dairy Princess Role

BAIR (York Co.) Angela
Mummert has been crowned as the
1995-96 York County Dairy Prin
cess. Her selection was announced
during the county’s pageant coro
nation ceremonies, held June 17 at
the York 4-H Center.
Angela, 17, is the daughter of
Diane and Dennis Mummert, Glen
Rock R 2. She is a senior at Dallas
town Area High School, where she
is a member of the band front color
guard and the yearbook staff. Her
future plans include college, pos
sibly pursuing a degree in elemen
tary education.
Last year, Angela served as
York County’s alternate dairy
princess. She is employed at Bup
plynn Farms, Seven Valleys,

Becky Dugan Represents SUN Area’s Four Counties
WATSONTOWN (Northum
berland Co.) —Rebecca (Becky)
Dugan of Northumberland County
is the new SUN Area Dairy
Princess.
SUN Area includes Snyder,
Union, Northumberland and
Mountour counties.
Becky is the daughter of
George and Barbara Dugan of
Watsontown. She received her
crown from Shannon Hoffman,
Mt. Pleasant Mills. The alternate
dairy princess is Eve Smith,
daughter of Ricky and Dawn
Smith, Middleburg, Snyder
County.

For her skit, Angela wrote and
illustrated an original children’s
story, “Bessie Moo Goes to the
Beach.”
When questioned how she
would respond to an accusation
that milk is not good for people,
Angela answered that she would
offer to supply materials and infor
mation that show the positive
health and nutritional benefits of
dairy foods.
“I hope to be able to visit a lot of
elementary school classrooms dur
ing the year with the message that
‘milk does a body good,’ share my
story with the’children and take
them ice cream, because everyone
likes that,” says Angela of her
promotion focus as dairy princess.

Dairy Days began June 22, with
displays from FFA groups, 4-H
groups and ag-related industries.
The promotion committee had tee

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis
Crawl, Airville. She is an eighth
grade student at Red Lion Junior
High School. For her promotional
presentation. Heather created a
dairy nutrition poster.

Friday evening, June 23, the
highlight of the evening was the
building of the seven-foot giant
ice cream sundae. Turkey Hill
Dairies of Conestoga, donated 138
gallons of premium vanilla ice
cream, 10 gallons of chocolate
fudge sauce, 5 gallons strawber
ries, and 25 pounds of toasted
pecans. The SUN Area Dairy
Promotion Committee built the
sundae and the dairy contestants
and maids dipped ice cream sun
daes, while the dairy misses
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Greek, Della. Sara’s promotional
poster for her presentation focused
on the using “real” dairy foods.

day, beginning with cattle and
calves coming to the outside tent
for the petting zoo. The Snyder
County Holstein Club had a dairy
bean bag toss game for everyone
to try, and different kinds of
cheese for cheese tasting.
At 7:00 p.m„ the pageant was
held on the mall stage at the Bos
cov Store. Michael Daniels from
Wiggle Radio, served as the mas
ter of ceremonies. Karen Auker,
Drums, provided the music for the

Rebuck of Domsife and Leire and
Catherine Fry of Fry Acres,
Middleburg.
