The Holstein Dairy Show also starts at 9 a.m. Something new to this year’s Tioga County Fair is the Farm Toy Show, beginning at 10 a.m. Satur day and continuing until S p.m. Collectors from all ova this region will have their old and new farm Uncart* Farming, Saturday, July 1, 1995-05 equipment toys on display, with some of the toys possibly for sale or swap. Horseshoe pitching and the Jr. Livestock Sale and Milk Auction fill in the middle of the day. The prize wanning market animals will be auctioned off as well as baskets of dairy products and a gallon of milk from the Youth Show grand champion of each breed. Luzerne County Fair The Luzerne County Fair will start on Wednesday, Sept. 6 and end on Sunday, Sept 10. Enter tainment again will be provided as part of the entrance to the fairgrounds. On Wednesday night the open ing act will be Dee Dee Lee and Country Class. The group consists of Dee Dee’s husband and their six children, John E., David, Tammy, Melody, Carl, and Adam. The group is a mixture of music in the traditional form, plus today’s country favorites and some good old time gospel music. The group will start at 8 p.m. On Thursday evening will be Daddy-0 and The Sax Maniacs. The group has played for President Clinton and his wife Hilary at the White House and for the Inaugura tion. They recently played at the White House for the wedding of Hugh Rodman to the daughter of California Senator Barbara Boxx. They will begin playing at 8 p.m. untill 11 p.m. Daddy-O has also played many local jazz clubs in the area. Friday night Ron Edwards Trio will be in the bandstand playing from 8 p.m. until closing. Edwards and the group are all from Luzerne County. The group plays a mixture of music from the ’sos on up to the ’9os. They have performed at local clubs throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. On Saturday night. North Coun try will be the highlight of the evening. North Country is a well known local group who recently opened for country singing star Lee Roy Parnell at Gcnnctti’s in Wilkes Bane. They have also been playing in the area for some time. They are sponsored by Delta Tires. The group plays old and new coun try music. Sunday night the fair will close with the ever popular Stanley and The Coal Miners. The band is well known throughout the area. They have been the opening act for per formers such as Yakov Smirnoff and Bobby Vinton. They have played on several cruise ships for the Holland America’s line. The entertainers have many followers in the Northeast. Performing throughout the week will be The Banjo Man. The Banjo Man will provide Blue Grass Music and will stroll through the fair all week, playing his banjo and singing his songs. Back by popular demand will be the pelting zoo for the young and old. The zoo will have a variety of animals, including llamas, giraf fes, and a collection of other animals. A new addition to the fair will be a chilli contest held by the arts and crafts division of the fair. Ayleen Landon and Jim Rogowski, Arts and Crafts, will be handling the chilli contest. Rules and regula tions will be announced at a future date. The Arts and Crafts Depart ment will also hold an apple pie contest, scarecrow contest, and chocolate baking contest.
