Preliminary plans are under way here at Longview Emu Farm, to begin the construction of a 250-bird unit growout facility. Longview Emu Farm, owned and operated by David and Joanne Long, has been breeding emu for more than two years, and is now in a position for a transition to the commercial market. In addition to Longview pro duced emu, they will begin taking contracts from private emu farms to grow out chicks to commercial age. Approximately 95 acres will be set aside for use as growout areas, with initial set up utilizing about 25 acres.
