National
Grain Market
ST. JOSEPH, MO
MAY 24, 1995
Wheat bids finished mixed as rains
continued to push spring wheat planting
further behind. Recent gains, however,
spurred profit taking in wheat pits, limiting
upturns. Com bids were slightly lower
after two days of sharp advances and fore
casts call for drier conditions in the Mid
west for next week. Soybean bids moved
higher on oil strength and export optimism.
Wheat mixed, mostly Ito 11 cents lower
except Kansas City 2 cents higher. Com 1
-o 4 cents lower. Sorghum 1 to 3 cents low
er. Soybeans I to 2 cents higher. Rainfall
continued to slow spring wheat planting in
several areas but some progress has been
repotted. Sharp gains in wheat bids over
fie past couple of days, however, spurred
profit taking and weakness was noted.
Export demand has been slow since
Egypt's substantial purchase last week.
Com bids slid lower from technical cor
rections and fund telling in com pits. Mud
dy, wet fields continued to slow com plant
ing but forecasts for drier weather by next
week, pressured bids. South Korea’s large
corn purchase this morning limited
declines in com. Some strength was seen in
bean pits as oil demand improved and indi
cations China may tender overnight for US
oil, offered support to bids.
