Berks County Society of Farm
Women Group 1 was pleased to be
host to the Berks County Alternate
Dairy Princess at the group’s
April meeting. Jennifer Davis,
Berks County Alternate Dairy
Princess, entertained with a skit
and also spoke about the various
dairy products which are available
to consumers.
Seventeen members were in
attendance at the meeting, which

held their March meeting in the
home of Barbara Kelchner Oley.
They answer to the roll call ques
tion of “Did you plan your garden
yet?”
Three members will be helping
at Berks Heim Bingo, April 6.

Esther Bemdt. At this meeting, the
group made its final plans to
attend the annual Pennsylvania
Farm Women’s Spring Rally to be
held May 23 at Dickinson Col
lege, Carlisle.
The May meeting of Group 1
will be held May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at
the home of Dorothea Bock,
Douglassville.
Donations were made to the
Oley Valley High School for the
Outstanding Senior in home ec.
and vo-ag.
After the meeting Joyce Mast
read a poem and had games for the
members to play.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Naomi Mast, Oley.
Loncaster Society 18
On Saturday, April 22, the
meeting of the Lancaster Society
of Farm Women #lB was hosted
by Mrs. Pat Lueck in the Grand
view United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Warren Weaver was in
charge of devotions. In the
absence of the president, Mrs.
Shepherdson, as vice president,
chaired the meeting. Dennis
Lueck spoke of his living £nd
studying in Sweden—a part of his
three year travels in Europe.
Excellent slides gave us many
views of the everyday life in Swe
den. Dennis was home from the

tained Societies IS, 26 and the
County officers at the Memorial
United Methodist Church in Quar
ryville to a covered dish luncheon.
There were 46 in attendance and
for the Roll Call each told where
they plan to vacation in 1995.
Pastor Price asked the blessing
before the meal and the scripture
was read by Verna Hess, taken
from Psalm 24. A poem was read
by Jean Ressel, which had been
written by Sadie Greenleaf.
Following the bountiful meal
the president, Nancy Axe, presided
at the business meeting. The Sun-

front of the church, in memory of
our dear friend Arnold Lueck and
the second, a planting to honor his
mother and die wife of the late
Arnold Lueck, long employed at
the Farm and Home Center.
Light refreshements enhanced
this springtime meeting. The
ladies were dismissed after sing
ing their theme song, “Brighten
the Comer Where You Are.”

planned for May IS. To make

cards sent and one bouquet. It was
voted to give $lOO to a family who
were victims of a fire and on April
30 there will be a bake sale to save
the Star Bam. Anyone contribut
ing should have their items to Nan
cy on the 29th. It was stated that
Society #l2 will disband.
For the program Kay Graybill
had a Seeing Eye dog and
explained how they train the dogs
so they can guide the blind.
The meeting closed by singing
“Brighten the Comer.” In May the
Society #2O will go to the Wax
Museum followed by lunch at the
Family Style Restaurant.

Easter egg tray favors for Meals
on Wheels were made by Berks
County Society of Farm Women
Group #4 at the April meeting in
the home of President Virginia
Taylor in Hereford.
A monetary donation was made
to Boyertown Multi-Service
spring membership drive.
Members were reminded of the
Berks Heim Volunteer Dinner to
be held on April 26 in the Annex
and the spring rally on May 23 at
Dickinson College in Carlisle.
The next meeting on May 2 will
be at the home of Feme Kulp,
Boyertown.
Lebanon
Society 20
Lebanon County Farm Women
Group #2O entertained Group #1 at
the Ono Fire Hall.
Elaine Shuey read devotions
followed by the Lord's Prayer and
salute to the flag.
Mr. Orsini from Hummelstown
showed very interesting slides on
trolley cars.
Games were enjoyed by
everyone.
A short business meeting was
held.
The County Convention will be
October 11. The group is invited to

sary on April 29.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Roberta B ashore.
