ATLANTA, GA
APRIL 19, 1995
NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE:
Prices were unchanged. The market tone
remained steady at best. Demand into retail
channels slowed in some areas and was
mixed across the full range of light to
good, best where post-holiday restocking
continued and features were a factor. Sup
plies were well cleared, and usually adequ
ate for the large sizes, and mediums were
often light to sometimes adequate. Break
ing slock supplies were adequate for the
moderate demand, and the trade sentiment
was steady. Live hen offerings remained at
least adequate.

USDA-Market News Service
Daily National Grain Summary
Wheat prices finished mixed, with pres
sure stemming from profit taking and lack
of new export sales while weather con
cerns offered some support Com prices
turned higher on recent good export
demand and planting delays due to wet
conditions. Soybean prices extended Tues
day's losses as fund selling continued and
meal slipped lower. Wheat mixed. Com 1
to 3 cents higher. Sorghum 1 to 3 cents
higher. Soybeans 1 to 3 cents lower. Wheat
prices were slightly lower in reaction to
late day fund sell- ing. Export sales have
been very slow this week and recent bene
ficial rains added weakness to prices. How
ever, some concerns over planting delays
in spring wheat growing areas and cold
weather forecast for parts of the winter
wheat areas, limited price declines. Slight
support was noted in com pits due to cool,
wet, weather con- ditions in Midwest reg
ions. Although com planting it not into full
swing, recent rains have kept fanners out
of fields. Soybean prices continued lower
on profit taking and record large crops
reponed in S. America. Additional weak
ness in soybean meal demand was also a
negative factor for I reins.
