School Prepares Dutch Country Auction MANHEIM (Lancaster Co.) “Once upon a time, there were some Mennonite men who started a school Manheim Christian Day School. The school grew and added programs, classes, compu ters, am! much more. The. school had many auctions. They collected neat stuff like T-shirts, quilts, art, plants, etc. The auction benefited the school’s mission. The school continues to grow and the auction grows, too. So come out, enjoy the food and take home some neat stuff.” That’s the message that explains why the upcoming 19th annual Dutch Country Benefit Auction is planned for Friday April 28 and Saturday April 29. For those interested, a preview of auctioned items can be seen starting at 3 p.m. on April 28. Chicken barbecue dinners for $5 will be served from 3-7 p.m. At 7 p.m., plants, pork roll, selected certificates, toy tractors, carpet, and lawn and garden items will be auctioned. At 8 p.m., a Winross auction will begin. In addition to numerous county trucks, a Winross case that holds 52 trucks will be sold. Special features to be sold at 12:30 p.m. include “Repairs,” a popular antique tractor print by artist Dave Bamhouse; a two-story colonial dollhouse by Ben Brubak er, a tiffany-style hanging lamp, Windsor furniture, and a 16-20 foot Village Green Zelkove tree to be planted on the buyer’s property. Many of the quality, handmade quilts including matching wall hangings and pillows that will be sold beginning at 1 p.m. Throughout the day. MCDS Cookbooks, containing more than 900 recipes will be available for $l3. As usual, strawberry pies, soft ice cream, a salad bar, and a wide variety of other foods to eat on the premise or to take home will be available for purchase.
