ask for Richie
David Bomberger, a dairy farmer in Lebanon,
PA, installed a hammer mill from Automatic Farm
System last winter. Already he sees a big differ
ence from the roller mill he had before.
"This mill does a much better job of cutting the
corn - now we can get it fine enough. We're feeding
the same amount of corn, but the cows are utilizing
it better. You see less grain in the manure. And I
really feel it's helped production."
Give us a call to learn how an AFS hammer mill
will work on your dairy operation, with low initial cost
and low maintenance.

IMPROVE
EGGSHELL
QUALITY...
“Let’s get specific”
Check specific gravity of eggs on a regular basis to
monitor shell quality. The percent “floaters" and “eggs in
transition" in a room temperature solution of 1 08 sp. gr
is a good bench mark.
AlO gal. bucket, a hydrometer, and an individual egg
scale is all the equipment you need Used with breeder
guidelines, this test can help you fine-tune the level of
oyster shell needed at each stage in the laying cycle.
For details on sp. gr. tests and the use of oyster shells,
contact The Fox Co., PO Box 708,
Newfleld, NJ 08344. FAX 609/697-
1692, Phone 800/257-7022.
