Grain Market

USDA-Matket News Service
Daily National Grain Summary
Grain and bean prices back off after
Tuesday’s sharp jump due to milder weath
er overnight in wheat areas and technical
corrections. Wheat mostly 3 to 6 cents low
er except Portland 2 cents higher. Com 1 to
3 cents lower. Sorghum 1 to 3 cents lower.
Soybeans 1 to 5 cents lower. Yesterday's
higher wheat prices, due to probable freeze
damage in winter wheat areas, were
weakened. Traders were cautious today
and corrections were made in anticipation
of damage assessments. Weather condi
tions were not repotted as severe last night,
leading some traders to believe no further
damage was done. Very slow export
demand this week also pressured wheat
prices. Com and bean prices followed
wheat prices downward. Ideas that recent
rains in Midwest areas will alleviated dry
soil conditions also weighed on com and
bean pnces. A slight pick up in export
demand for both com and beans, limited
price declines.
