Grain Market
SL Joseph, MO
Wednesday March 29, 1995
USDA-Market News Service Daily
National Grain Summary
Wheat prices finished mixed, with good
news bad news in export demand and
cold weather threats offering light support.
Com prices extended gains slightly, ahead
of USDA'S prospective planting and grain
stocks report due for release Friday. Soy
bean prices were down slight- ly in antici
pation of upcoming Government reports,
profit taking on the board and continued
pressure from S. American harvest prog
ress. Wheat mixed. Com 1 to 2 cents high
er. Sorghum unchanged to 1 lower. Soy
beans 1 to 4 cents lower. Wheat urices
were supported by fairly good export sales
from the Philippines today, despite reports
of bid rejections and fears China has
exhausted its EEP allotment Some traders
showed concerns that the cold weather
moving back into winter wheat areas could
cause damage to winter wheat crop. Temp
eratures are expected to drop into the twen
ties tonight and moisture is still in the fore
cast The crop, however, is currently in
good to excellent condition. Carryover
strength from yesterday’s higher trading,
underpinned com prices. Traders await
Friday's release of USDA's prospective
planting and grain stocks reports. Farmer
selling has bee slow this week for both
com and beans. Profit taking on the board
was noted in soybeans and harvest pro-
gren in Brazil continued to weigh on
prices. Export demand has been slow lately
for beans and record crops in S. America
could slow it even further.
