Oklahoma National Stockyards Weekly
Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers
under 800 lbs steady; over 800 lbs 1.00
lower. Feeder heifers steady to 1.00 lower.
Stocker steers and heifers steady. Demand
good for feeder cattle and improved some
as sale progressed. CME cattle futures
posted significant gains Monday giving a
boost to the feeder cattle market No boost
needed for Stockers as demand remains
very good for these kind, Weigh-ups
improved for buyers from last week with
majority of cattle in average fill conditions.
Flesh conditions also improved with bulk
of feeder steers returning to medium flesh;
however feeder heifer offerings remain
rather fleshy. Overall quality plain to aver
age with end attractive. Slaughter cows and
bulls 2.00-3.00 lower. Demand fair to
moderate from packers as slaughter cows
and bulls take the same downward trend as
the fat cattle market Total of 346 cows and
bulls sold with 65 percent to packers.
Receipts include 341 show steers from the
Oklahoma Spring Fair. Receipts this week
8,534; last week 11,577; last year 7,853.
