Notebook
Ida Risser
As I write this article, spring is
in the air and my husband is trim
ming our old apple tree. He has
piles of limbs all over the yard. I’m
not in a hurry for spring to come as
I have many unfinished jobs to do
in the house. One of them is to
make a braided rug.
We had a minor earthquake in
our area and I was surprised to hear
my son, Philip, tell why he was
glad. It seems that after weeks of
having the silage “set up” it now
flows freely due to the shaking that
we received!
I’d like to tell you about a few
more things that we saw in Florida
recently. For a change we stayed in
one hotel for three nights as we
headed for Orlando. On the way
our bus stopped at a large fruit out-,
let and we purchased grapefruit,
oranges, and I even bought a coco
nut in its husk.
The day was spent at Sea World
where we saw flamingoes, killer
whales, sea lions, manatees and a

tropical rain forest. Here we saw a
water ski show before the evening
dinner show at the Arabian Nights.
Hundreds of people were seated
around an arena where 60 beautiful
horses performed 20 different acts.
During this performance we were
served a four-course banquet.
The next day we chose Epcot
Center and walked from 10 in the
morning to 6 at night. There were
so many people trying to see the
exhibits of Canada, France, Nor
way, and other countries so that we
stood in long lines. The following
day we traveled to Universal Stu
dios Florida where television and
motion pictures are produced. One
tetriffic ride that we took was
called “Back to the Future-The
Ride.” It seemed to take us through
fire, into a dragon’s mouth and
dropped us from the sky at 80
miles per hour.
Next week I’ll finish my
account of our busy days in sunny
and warm Florida.
