At planting time (on April 28, 1994), Kreider used a six row com planter. He uses a 4-18-4 fertilizer on the row. At sidedressing, when the com is about a foot high, Kreider uses a special six-row cultivator with large fertilizer boxes con taining dry urea. Kreider said that using the right kind of seed com helped, used in conjunction with proper fertility. He soils tests regular ly.
