Some 200 guests and FFA mem bers attended the S6th annual ban quet of the Berlin-Brothersvalley FFA Chapter on the Thursday evening of National FFA Week. John R. Hendershot, a 1955 graduate of the Berlin-Brothers valley High School and its current head custodian in the elementary school, was made the 40th honor ary member. Hendershot has assisted the FFA in many ways during the past 11 years. Not only has he exhibit ed an efficient way of getting the job done, but-always does fein a personable and friendly manner that FFA members have recogniz ed. Jason Baughman won first place in the one-acre com growing contest (127 to 168 bushels per acre). Jonathan Dickey was sec ond and Jonathan Smiley, third. Their trophies were presented by W. J. Brant Pioneer Seed Com pany. Demonstration state gold med als were presented to Matt Cole man, Jonathan Dickey, and Jona than Smiley. The team, which placed thrid at the state level, per formed their demonstration, “A Treat For All Ages.” Naturally, it was homemade ice cream. Jonathan Smiley, the son of Jef frey and Jane Smiley, Berlin, re ceived the Keystone Farmer De gree pin. Smiley also received a slate pin for Gold Medal State FFA Dele gate, as did the Brothersvalley FFA Chapter Scrapbook in receiv ing a state gold medal. Cloister FFA Selects New Officers The Cloister FFA leaders re cently selected new officers for the 1995 year. Keith Bollinger was appointed the new president. Assisting him will be Dale Zimmerman and Connie Nolt. They will be in charge of new committees and the club meetings. The recording secretary will Jo anne Zimmerman. She will be re cording the minutes during the club meetings. Kathy Hurst is the new corresponding secretary for the 1995 year. Her job is to con tact other secretaries about activi ties. Cloister FFA leaders appointed Richard Bollinger as treasurer and Derrick Frank as reporter. Assist ing Derrick will be James Brooks. The reporters will report all activi ties to you as the reader and organ ize a scrapbook for competition. As seminal, Dean Hoffman will have to make sure the atmosphere following award presentations. Beef Aroma Greets Magazine Readers CHICAGO, 11. Restaurant operators might be more inclined to add more beef to their menus if they could smell the wonderful aroma of beef dishes advertised in their trade magazines. Now they can. Beginning in February, the Beef Industry Council (BIC) is placing an ad in major foodservice publications that allows foodser vice operators to smell the adver tised product.
