    New York’s Dairy Industry Crowns New Spokesperson

Outside of school, Jonelle partici
pates in the United Presbyterian
Church Senior Choir, Senior Hand
Bell Choir, and serves as director of
the Junior Hand Bell Choir. She
received the N.Y. State Farm Bureau
Citizenship Award, Bausch and
Lomb Science Award, Xerox Award
and All-State Chorus honors. Jonelle
will be attending a four-year college
in the fall.
Tricia Hopkins of Fillmore, N.Y.
was named first alternate state
princess and received a $7OO scholar
ship. Tricia lives on a 140 Holstein
dairy farm owned by her parents, Ted
and Judy Hopkins. Tricia serves as
her school mascot, yearbook editor,
and is active in many sports and
school clubs. Because of her dairy
princess experience, she has decided
to study elementaiy education when
she attends college this fall.
Anita Lant of Horseheads, N.Y.
was selected as second alternate slate
princess and received a $6OO scholar
ship. The 17-year-old senior is the
daughter of Ross and Shirley Lant of
Horseheads, N.Y.. Chemung Coun
ty. Anita is president of the Junior
Holstein Club and is an active 4-H
member of 11 years. On the family
farm where they milk 170 registered
Holsteins, Anita does chores and
milking when available. After gradu
ation, Anita plans to follow in her
dad’s footsteps and stay on the fami
ly farm to pursue her love of farming.

Cowles of Marietta, N.Y.; Cori Jay
cox of Schoharie, N.Y.; and Carrie
Gunning of Trumansburg.
