The newest MIF 200 Series tractors
carry forward the traditions set forth
by Harry Ferguson when he invented
the first modern tractor over
75 years ago.
Ferguson, a successful tractor dealer
and talented mechanic in Ireland,
observed that simply relying on the
weight of the tractor for traction was
inefficient. In addition, simply hitching a
plow to the drawbar frequently caused
tractors to rear over backward when
the plow struck an obstruction. Late
in 1917, Ferguson applied for the first
of a long series of patents that defined
what came to be
known as the„
“Ferguson
System”
