Feeder Cattle
Oklahoma City, OK
Wed Feb 8,1995
Oklahoma National Stockyards Weekly
Cattle Summaty
Receipts: This week; 13,350 Last Week;
6,965 Last Year: 9,670
Compared to last week: Feeder cattle
over 600 lbs 1.00-2.00 lower. Stocker
cattle and calves steady to 2.00 higher.
Demand moderate early but turned good
after Monday’s positive CME settlement.
Stocker steers and steer calves sold to very
good demand thruout the day; heifers
loined this scenario once it was established
that grazing steers were too high in com
parison to heifers. Supply average to
attractive. Weigh-ups gaunt to average,
few full. Wheat cattle were in wide range
of flesh condition as some cattle that were
in medium to moderately fleshy condition
were ready to trade. However a sizeable
number of thinnish cattle appeared to be
telling due either to lack of pasture or lack
of faith in the market. Stocker cattle in
medium to mainly thin condition.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls 1.50 lower. Packer demand
moderate to good for 658 cows and bulls
sold with packers taking some 60 percent
of supply. Supply consisted of many fleshy
cows off wheat as well at several Hols
teins. Receipts this week 13,350; last week
6,965; last year 9,670. Supply consisted of
77 percent yearlings over 600 lbs; 18 per
cent calves under 600 lbs; 5 percent cows
and bulls. Prices follow with weighted
average price and weight in parenthesis.
