BlfrLancastor Farming, Saturday, February 11, 1995 4-H Horse Shows Require Rabies Vaccination Penn State Cooperative Exten sion has released a reminder for rabies vaccination requirements for horses, ponies or mules partici pating in 4-H activities. According to the extension ser vice, all horses and ponies entered in 4-H horse shows, open horse shows sponsored by 4-H, or used in rides at public events must be vaccinated for rabies at least one month before the event. Revacci nation is required each year. Vaccinations are required for all horses over six months of age. In addition, mules that might be included in rides, public displays, or projects must be inoculated. Finally, ponies used in 4-H fund raising pony rides also must be vaccinated. Horse owners can present a form signed and dated by a veteri narian stating that the horse was vaccinated, or owners may sign a statement when they arrive at a show indicating their horse has received a rabies inoculation. For more information, call your local cooperative extension office. Northampton County 4-H Dairy Club On January 16, Northampton County 4-H Dairy club held its monthly meeting. Sara Hlavaty brought the meet ing to order. Jennifer Koehler pre sented the minutes from the last meeting and Jason Koehler pre sented the treasurer’s report. The club then discussed old business and new business. Then the club held its yearly election. The results are Sara Hlaraty, president; Lisa Pysher, vice presi dent; Jennifer Vemer, secretary; Michael Kromer, treasurer; and Rebekah Pysher, Jennifer Koehler, and Amada Klein, news reporters. Game leaders are Bryant Hlavaty, Eric Koehler, and Brian Kromer. 4-H Goat Club The Cumberland County 4-H Goat Club held its first meeting Feb. 1 at the home of Tim Zeigler. There were 14 members present with six new members. Ron Zeigler talked on the selec tion of meat goats. Election of officers was held with the following results; presi dent, Nate Gutshall; vice president, Tim Zeigler: secretary, Sonya Rinker, treasurer, Greg Garvin; news reporter, Derrick Carpenter; County Council representatives, Linnea Hoover and Ruschelle Henry; and social chairmen, Matt Hoyaux and Zach Travis. The next meeting will be held March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Tim Zeigler.
