Hard work and selecting calves that have the best chance of suc cess in the show ring were the ingredients in providing a supreme champion heifer for Abe and Grace Flory, Mountain Valley Angus, Lititz, on Monday after noon at the Farm Show beef competition. Grace Flory said that the dam of this year's suncpme champion heifer produced me grand champ ion buU in the Angus breed for the Flory’s at last year’s Farm Show. Flory said a “lot of hard work” and “watching the calves, weaning them, and halter-breaking” went into obtaining a championship, she said moments after holding the banner for supreme champion. Valley Julie Heather (S; WK Future, D: Julies Jewel), as supreme heifer. When judging the Angus class, Eller picked the heifer because of its “excellent representation of the breed.” Grace Flory said that a 4-H’er, Freddy Weaver, helped them select the animal while a calf to show in championship events. The judges chose the early 2-year-old Simmental bull exhi bited by Michael Messick, Mid dletown, as supreme bull on Mon day.
