Dairy Goat Show Wraps Up 1995 Farm Show Competition

HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.)
The dairy goat show wrapped
up the Pennsylvania Farm Show
on Thursday. With 192 entries
shown by 70 exhibitors, competi
tion was tough.
Judge Jay Cobum declared a
four-year-old Toggenburg owned
by Ann Miller as the Best in Show.
Miller said that GC Rockspring
PS Lucy Lula is classified excel
lent 90 and has won best of show
seven or eight times previously.
Miller raises about SO
LaManchas, Toggenburgs, and a
few recorded grades on her Telford
farm known as Little Rock Spring.
In addition to winning Best of
Show and the Toggenburg champ
ion, Miller also won the champion

the LaMancha breeds.
The recorded grade champion is
a 3-year-old named GC Sockspr
ing Demon Tola Trouble. It was
second in its class in national com
petition and is a permanent champ
ion since its been a milking
yearling.
Miller surmises that the
recorded champion will be the hea
viest milking doe in the bam.
The LaMancha champion is GC
Rockspmg Dixie Deborah, a six
year-old that achieved best udder
in the 1993 national show.
The champion Alpine is owned
by Joan Stump of Telford. GCH
Stumphollow TSA Cricket had
best of show last year.
The champion Nubian Starfire
Cleo is a 3-year-old owned by

and best of breed in the 1986 Farm
Show.
The Snyders milk 20-30 head on
their Starfire Farm in Perry Coun
ty, which has a herd of 43.
Champion of all other purebreds
is owned by Tom and Nancy Trim
mer of Alexander of Huntingdon
County. Trimmer’s daughter Leah
Kyle and some grandchildren
show the Trimpier’s herd of 30-33
head. The doe was purchased from
Sundown Herd Blossom. It’s a
two-year-old that went champion
the first time it freshened.
