source for parts to a Prizer #lOO cookstove manufactured by
Prizer-Painterof Reading, Pa. The company no longer carries
parts for it.
QUESTION Evelyn Michaels, Beaver, asks if anyone
remembers Ole Old, a type of linament made by Dr. Peter
Farhney and Sons Company in N.Y. City. It contained cam
phor, oil of cloves, sassafras, and turpentine. The Swedish/
Finnish community in Tioga County used it widely from the
1930 s to the 19605. Evelyn has asked telephone operators in
the calling areas 212,718,917, and 914, for telephone listings
for the company but no listing exists in those areas. Does any
one know a supplier?

where he could buy a shepherd’s staff or crook. He writes to
thank readers for the calls he received that enabled him to
purchase one.

17315 was trying to locate a company that sells the machine
to produce firewood from logs. Thanks to Horst Schaper of
Moosup, Ct, who sent the information to Humer. The wood
splitter is called Palax 600 Combi, which cuts, splits, and
conveys.
ANSWER A reader wanted to know where solar pow
ered window candles may be found. Thanks to Dottle Kem
merling, New Tripoli, who writes that window candles with a
sensor that turns the candles on at dusk and off at dawn, may
be purchased at Hess's Bon-Ton Stores.

Society 14
On October 14 Lancaster Farm.
Women Society 14 met and had
lunch at Dienner’s Restaurant on
Route 30. For roll call members
suggested a program for next year
and paid dues in a sealed envelope
for next year. Members visited the
quilt room, craft shop, furniture
warehouse, and a Victorian house
which had many antiques in it
The Society also saw the pot-bel
lied pig show.
Nine ladies from the Society at
tended Farm Women’s Day
Brunch at Willow Valley. County
President Joyce Slaymaker said
Farm Women started in 1914.
This special day was held in cele
bration of 80 years of meetings.
The Lancaster County group was
started in 1918. Members sang
old-time songs. Edith Herr Killian
gave readings about senior citi
zens, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
and an auto show.
November 9 members met at
the home of Marian Rohrer who
lives outside of Strasburg, Clara
Rohrer had devotions. The hos
tesses served delicious refresh
ments. Each member took a non
perishable food item for the food
bank. Lou Ann Good from Lan
caster Farming was the speaker.
She told how she started as a re
porter and other stories.
For the December 15th meet
ing, the Society went to the Dutch
Apple Dinner Theater.
