(100 cows,
feed and seed sales)
I don’t think there’s
anything today that a
farmer can do that will be
more productive for his
operation than plant a corn
hybrid that is highly digestible. The more forage
the cow can utilize the less a dairy producer has to
purchase off the farm and the more profitable his
operation will be.
If we have a corn plant with improved digestibility
we can get more fiber into the cow and at the same
time keep a healthier cow, maintain production
and also put together a less expensive ration.
As a feed consultant, a ration with digestible corn
silage makes my job much easier because I know
we won’t run into some of the problems that we
would have with less digestible hybrids. I’ve also
noticed that higher quality forage will have a
tremendous impact on the herd health of cows.
The Cargill Menu helps provide consistency and
stability in rations. Cows simply eat more with
good-quality forages and that’s why they move up
in production
RICK CRAIG

(feed and seed sales)
As a business person, you
must use all the tools at
your disposal. This has to
be something that dairy
producers look at. I believe
you have to start with a
quality product to get
maximum milk production.
