Glickman, and his wife Rhoda,
have two children, Jon and Amy,
and his resume lists numerous
awards and honors and involve
ment in agricultural issues, such as
helping to urge the restructuring of
the USDA.
His agricultural involvement
while serving in the U.S. House
was as a member of its Subcom
mittee on General Commodities,
and its Subcommittee on (USDA)
Department Operations and
Nutrition.
The National Grange has
endorsed Glickman, as have
others, including Republicans.

House Agriculture Committee,
Rep. Pat Roberts, may lead to pre
ferences for grain producers, as
opposed to producers of other
commodities, such as dairy.
Glickman played a major role in
the 1990 Farm Bill, according to
published reports, and is to be
involved in the writing of a 1995
Farm Bill.
In the meantime, before leaving
office, Mike Espy sent a letter to
agricultural producers informing
them of the reorganization of the
USDA.

reorganize the Department of
Agriculture, which will save $3.6
billion over the next five years. But

In the letter, Espy said that a
“major part of the reorganization
plan is the creation of a new Farm
Service Agency (FSA).”
The FSA is to be the umbrella
organization which is to take under
its-wing the commodity price sup
port and production adjustment
programs; the Agricultural Con
servation Program, and the Con
servation Reserve Program which
had been administered by the Agri
cultural Stabilization and Conser-

are to have NRCS field service
offices closed or relocated, howev
er no employees are to be
terminated.
Those counties affected include
Allegheny, Clearfield, Fayette,
