Or, call (717) 445-6674. ANSWER —George Rockes, Ruffsdale, has-an answer for Nelson Austin, Shinglehouse, who wanted to know how to dry black walnuts. Rockes writes that he puts about five gallons of walnuts in a feed sake and lays them on the driveway. He drives his pick up over them a few times until he thinks they are all crushed. Then he dumps out the walnuts and picks up the nuts, puts them in a tub of water tp wash them, and lays them in the sun or on a shed roof to dry. Shorthorn Auxiliary Names Leadership OMAHA, Neb. The National Shorthorn Lassies held ’their annual meeting and officer election in conjunction with the Nation al Shorthorn Show at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY, from November 11-14. Jan Steck, Knoxville, IL, was named the National Shorthorn Lassie President. Steck had served the past year as the National Queen Coordinator. Taking over the vice president duties is Patricia Williams, Binger, OK. Williams had served the past two years as the mem bership chairperson. Tiffany Henry, Sadorus, IL, was elected to finish out a term vacated by Kay Good, Barnard, KS. Henry, the 1993 National Shorthorn Lassie Queen, will tyke over the responsibilities as the National Queen Chairman. Evans was a 1994 recipient of the Lassie of the Year award and former board munity club in Lehigh County.
