second bird. Both buyers also pur
chased other club members’ birds
during the sale.
The reserve champion pair was
shown by Andy Myers, 10, South
Fork, son of Mark and Diane
Myers. His two birds brought a
total of $238, weighing in at 23
pounds. Dennis Horne, Nation
wide Insurance Agency, pur
chased one of Andy’s birds for
$l5 per pound. Wendy’s bought
the second one.
Each 4-H member showed two
birds at round-up, judged as a pair.
Records were maintained on feed
ing, management, and total cost of
bringing the birds to maturity.
At the annual dinner auction,
52 people participated. Judge was
Herb Jordan, retired poultry pro
fessor, Penn State. The sale was
conducted by Wayne Templeton,
local auctioneer.
