The Warren County Dairy Herd
Improvement Association recog
nized the outstanding county dairy
herds at a recent annual banquet.
Maple Place Farm of Sugar
Grove and Foggy Meadows Farm
of Lander were the top herds in
1994.
Maple Place Farm is owned
and operated by A 1 Ludwick and
his son Brad. They were the high
herd in milk production; 22,594
pounds of milk average and high
herd in butterfat; 862 pound aver
age.
Foggy Meadows Farm is
owned and operated by Will
Hitchcock and family. They were
the high herd in protein produc
tion; 722 pound average, and won
the herd management award with
85 points.
The highest producing cow in
Warren County is also a member
of the Maple Place herd. The out-

pounds of protein. She produced
enough milk to supply a family of
four with cheese, butter, ice
cream, and other milk products for
the next 50 years.
The most improved herd in
Warren County was owned by
Jack & Gale Lindell of Lander.
Since last year, the Lindell herd
was the most improved in milk
production with an increase of
2,256 pounds milk, the most
improved in butterfat with a 52-
pound increase, and the most
improved in protein with a 74-
pound increase.
Producing the highest quality
milk with the lowest somatic cell
count, the Twin States Farm Inc.,
of Sugar Grove herd had a
118,000 somatic cell count aver
age for the year.
