SUMMARY
Compared to list week: Steer and heifer
calves steady to $2.00 higher. Feeder steers
steady to $2.00 lower. Feeder heifers
unevenly steady. Demand good for year
lings, excellent demand if thin. Demand
very good for calves. Calves continue to be
in mostly thinner flesh and very attractive
to buyers. Yearling flesh is mixed between
thin and medium with a few slightly fleshy
off early wheat and not as attractive overall
at last week. Weigh conditions mostly
average. Slaughter cows $l.OO lower.
Slaughter bulls steady to $l.OO lower.
Demand moderate to good for slaughter
cows and bulls, and good for thin cows
headed to wheat pasture. 690 cows and
built sold with 60 percent to packers.
Receipts this week 8,150; last week 6,280;
last year 6,784. Supply consisted of 41 per
cent yearlings and calves over 600 lbs; 51
percent calves under 600 lbs.; and 8 per
cent cows and bulls. Prices follow with
weighted average weight and price in
parenthesis.
