AHjnc«»tw Fearing, Saturday, November 26, 1994 ran* TH,VWEEtTVV>TH Weather Lore Some say if it rains on the first Sunday of December, it will rain for a week. Others say if it rains on the first Sunday of any month, it will rain every Sunday that month. Weather proverbs are as old as people’s interest in the elements. They are our attempts to explain and understand our climate. Some are useful, some are ridiculous, but almost all of them are interesting. Here’s another one relating to days of the month: If it storms on the first (or any) Thursday of a month, _ count the remaining days of the 9 Uj month, add to this the number of \ V ' days remaining of the Moon, and ' 'V\ ' T that will give you the number of ■ N \ ' storms for that season '• Some rain, some rest; fine weather isn t always hest ns- Your crystal will sparkle parts water to 1 part vinegar. earthwise A living Christmas tree is a great idea. But unless you’ve prepared your yard months ago, your frozen winter landscape may not be able to receive a new tree To solve this problem, some nurseries now rent living Christmas trees You enjoy them in your home for the holidays, take good care of them, and return them when the season is over Special Offar: For a handy chart full of Interacting weather proverbs and prognoatica, aend $3 to Weather Chart, Dept.
