The majority of fires started by

start in rural areas, spreading from
the backyard, through dead grass
and weeds, into bordering wood
lands.
“There is something about
burning that fascinates people,"

people will be out burning. They
just like to play with fire.”
Because national fire-preven
tion ad campaigns are geared
toward summer, most Pennsylva
nians are not reminded about fire
safety during peak fire seasons.
Early in the morning or late in
the evening on cool, moist days
are the best times to bum debris.
Bowersox emphasizes that most
forest fires can be prevented by
burning debris in a safe container
(such as a burning barrel) with a
fire screen.

Baltimore County Executive
Roger B. Hayden attended the
groundbreaking ceremony.
“This makes good sense in
facilitating governmental accesp

groundbreaking. “A combined site
benefits not only the agricultural
community but the whole county.”
“People burning with safe con
tainers are definitely in the minor
