The theme for the day was mus
ic and the importance it plays in
lives. The talents of members were
showcased by Sylvia Kuch of Soc
iety 8, Allegra Leininger of Socie
ty 3, and Joanne Hershey of Socie
ty 26.
David and Sylvia Kuch played
ragtime music and spoke of the ori
gin of such music. In their musical
act, David, who is called Discord
Dave, plays the piano while his
wife, nicknamed Soapy Sil, plays a
washboard by wearing thimbles on
her fingers and rings a cow bell.

Society 26, spoke about the har
mony of music in life and of God
as the source of all harmony. She
inspired members to “remember
the impossible is always possible.”
For reaching her 90th birthday
and remaining an active member,
Margarite Kreider of Society 9 was
presented with a special pin from
the society.
“There have been happy times
in the gaining of 11 members and
sad times with 14 resignations and
10 deaths,” said first vice
president Kathryn Fry.
A memorial service recognized
the following members who died
within the last year Miriam Weav
er, Society 19; Shirley Newcomer,
Society 4; Estie Swarr, Society 8;
Violet Esheleman, Society 11;
Ruth Shenks Society 17; Mae
Wenger, Society 17; Ingernia
Wanner. Society 18; Jean Wood,
Society 20; and Dorothy Hoak,
Society 23.
The attendance awards went to
Society 28 and to Society 1.
