According to figures from the American Gelbvieh Association, the Gelbvieh breed set all-time growth records in four key areas during fiscal year 1993-1994. The association reports record expan sion in inquiries, memberships, transfers, and cow inventory. Interest in Gelbvieh cattle con tinues to soar; inquiries from cat tlemen across the country rose 40 Bucks 4-H DOYLESTOWN (Bucks Co.) Tracey Kimbel, Jamison, showed her first ever market lamb to grand champion in the Bucks County 4-H Market Lamb Show held recently at the Middletown, Grange Fair in Wrightstown. The 122-pound Suffolk lamb was pur- chased by Worthington Racing Stables of Langhorne for $450. The reserve champion lamb was shown by Joel Nehoda of Doylestown. Beef producers from the cattle-rich southern and southeastern states led the movement toward Gelb vieh. Forty-eight percent of the inquiries received in 1993-1994 came from these areas. Adult memberships increased a record 10 percent and transfers were up 8 percent, when com pared to figures from 1992-1993. The total number of cows on County Holds Lamb Sale In all, 14 4-H members com peted in the market lamb show judged by Dr. Robert Herr of Nix Besser Farm, Narvon, Pa. The sale averaged $232.50 per head with the champions and $202.50 when the champions were not included.
