A growthy September calf from the KEJAN Registered Hols tein farm of Kenneth Beiler and family will be presented to a youth winner at the Lancaster County Holstein Banquet to be held Thurs day in Mt. Joy. For the last several years a calf has been donated to an intermediate youth in the associa tion who has the top record book score. The calf is sponsored by a combined effort between the asso ciation and a Holstein breeder to encourage young people in the youth program. The calf this year has a deep pedigree with outstanding type. In tnal after tnal, Promise has lived up to its name, producing added tonnage over check vaneties, with many stands lasting into the fifth year And Promise demonstrates high resistance to the Northeast’s most common alfalfa diseases. With high yields, high disease resistance and the Hoffman name behind it, there aren’t any better choices. That’s our Promise! fat, and protein. The dam is Good Plus with VG udder and more than 1,000 lbs of fat The next two dams are Very Good, and both have Excellent udders and high test. A maternal sister to the calf is already 83 points with an Excellent udder and a good record in progress. Starting time for the baked ham loaf banquet is 7 p.m. at the Coun try Table Restaurant. The meeting will include reports from state and local officials and William Rhoads will entertain with an evening of music including a “sing-a-long.” Tickets may still be ordered by calling Nelson Wenger (717-664-7233) or Jack Coleman (717-687-6844).
