Y.. —ln early December, farmers from across the state will leave their farms for a couple of days to attend a conven tion that will blend the passage of New York Farm Bureau’s legisla tive agenda with loads of fun and relaxation. Farm Bureau’s 1994 State Convention will take place December 6- 8 at the Villa Roma Resort Hotel in Calli coon N.Y. According to David Whitmore, NYFB’s or ganization director, “On one hand, the business session of our annual state convention is the most important Farm Bureau meeting of the year. It is here that our policy is approved— policy that will map out Farm Bureau’s stance in the governmental, pub lic, and legal arenas, the business also includes elections and presenta tion of the organiza tion’s financial situa tion. On the other hand, though, the convention offers farmers, people who rarely find the time to get way from their business, an opportunity to go to a resort setting where there is plenty of good food, many sport ing activities to engage in, time to sit back and rest, and lots of old friends to visit with and time to meet new ones.” This year’s agenda at the Farm Bureau con vention includes two speakers—Dean Kleck ner, president of the 4.1 million member Ameri can Farm Bureau Feder ation, and Mac Parker, a farmer-humorist from Vermont, said Whit more. There will also be many award presenta tions. such as the Young Farmer Achievement Award and Discussion Meet winner, and the county Farm Bureau program and member ship awards.
