Pricing continues to hold about
unchanged on light type fowl compared to
last week while sales are too few to report
on heavy hens. Offerings from production
areas are easily keeping slaughter sche
dules at or near full capacity. Demand it no
better than moderate. Finished product
tales are seasonally active, however there
remains an adequate to fully adequate
supply of raw material. Undertone general
ly steady.

GLANCE:
Pricet were unchanged to higher in the
Northeast and Midwest, and generally
unchanged elsewhere. Hie market tone
was steady to firm. Demand continued
mostly moderate in a mixed range, with
retail specials and fast food breakfast
promotions providing the best ‘demand.
Supplies of die large sizes were adequate
or available at higher prices, and the light
sizes were barely adequate to adequate.
Breaking stock supplies were about adequ
ate and prices increased. Live hen offerings
continued to exceed the minimal demand,
and the undertone was generally steady.

Movement of ready-io-ooolc whole birds
wet light to moderate and generally una
greisive. Offerings were readily available
on over 3 pound sizes; adequate to closely
cleared on 2.25 to 2.S pound sizes. Live
supplies were moderate. Weights varied,
but were mostly desirable to heavy. Pro
cessing schedules were very heavy. Lest
than trucklot asking prices were undtanged
at 52 to 63 cents Trade sentiment was
steady to weak. In the parts complex, bone
in breast were in doter balance and addi
tional offerings were held with increased
confidence. Leg quarters and wings, were
fully adequate to ample.

Workshop
SALISBURY, Md. A swine
artificial insemination (AI) work
shop will be held on Friday,
December 2, from 9 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. at the University of Mary
land Eastern Shore Swine
Research and Education Facility
in Princess Anne, Md.
The program will be repeated
in its entirety on Saturday,
December 10 at the St. Mary’s
County Fairgrounds in Leonard
town, Md.
In addition to receiving class
room instruction, workshop par
ticipants will have the opportunity
to collect semen from boars and
artificially inseminate sows and
gilts.
The registration fee, which
covers lunch and AI equipment, is
$l5 per person. Registration is
limited to 20 people at each loca
tion. To obtain a registration form
and a copy of the program, contact
Dr. Mark Estienne, Department of
Agriculture, University of Mary
