OKLAHOMA NATIONAL
STOCKYARDS WEEKLY CATTLE
SUMMARY: Compared to last week.
Feeder steers steady. Feeder heifers steady
to $l.OO lower. Steer and heifer calves
mostly steady after a slow opening
Demand good for yearlings Calf demand
opened light but turned very good by noon.
Yearling weigh-ups average to full. Year
ling flesh improved from last week and
light to medium. Weigh-ups were detri
mental for buyers but the improved flesh
scores helped to balance the condition
scale. Calf condition was highly varied
from fleshy and soft to slightly thin and
weaned.
Quality of supply plain to mostly aver
age. A few isolated thunder- storms
appearing in spots but best chance for over
all rain is Thursday. A good rain at this
time would greatly enhance wheat pasture
outlook. Slaughter cows mostly $2.50 low
er. Slaughter bulla $2.00-53.00 lower.
Packer demand fair to moderate with mod
erate trade. 737 cows and bulls sold with
35 percent replacements. Receipts this
week 9,900; last week 8,628; last year
9,835. Supply consisted of 63 percent year
lings and calves over 600 lbs.; 30 percent
calves under 600 lbs; and 7 percent cows
and bulls. Prices follow with weighted
average weight and price in parenthesis.
