It seems rather late in the sea son, but our church just had a pic nic on their own grounds. Prior to the picnic not many members had been in this particular area except for the lawn-mowing people and a few gardeners. It was cool and so we did not need the shade of the big trees that are there. In fact, the members who volunteered for the dunking tank got quite cold. The children enjoyed the clown and his balloon animals. Some of them got their faces painted and looked like little kittens with their whiskers. There was lots of music too. After I finished preparing for a Bible Study group to meet in my home, I felt as though my fall housecleaning was completed. My husband was kind enough to get a ladder and wash the win dows on the outside while I did the inside. You see, since we built on a hill, some of the first floor windows are fifteen feet off the ground. The two bay windows with their wide expanse of glass America’s First Outside Wood Furnace 15? Also as part of my preparation, I baked a big apple cake—the third one in a week. Our daughter in New Jersey has a large tree, which they do not even spray but the large, red apples are perfect. She gave us several baskets of them and they make a bright pink applesauce. My first tomato plants were eaten off by a groundhog who has a hole near my garden. So I had to buy more and replant. Thus, they are quite late and only now am I canning them and making juice. Our watermelon and can taloupes all seemed to ripen at the same time this summer and so we gave most of them to relatives and neighbors. However, a green fleshed melon with a good flavor bore fruit much later and we are still enjoying them. The ground cherries, which I planted for the first time, are good in pies and taste a bit like an apple pie. soon our fresh fruit will only be a memory. m For Forced Air/Hot Water Systems DEMAND THE ORIGINAL - NOTAN IMITATION!!
