On Friday, August 26, approx
imately 300 people visited the Ag
Day, “The Pizza Story” at the
Carlisle Plaza Mall, presented by
Cumberland County Farm
Bureau Women’s Committee.
The Story began with, “Once
upon a time...” and went through
seven chapters in the story.
Chapter I - The Farm. A scale
model of the buildings, livestock,
and machinery with price tags
placed by the machinery was dis
played. A new tractor would
range from $BO,OOO to $lOO,OOO

grain farmer.
Chapter 111 - The Sauce. A
tomato plant was exhibited beside
a display of tomato at different
stages of growth from blossom to

Beef Council, displayed recipes
and information on the correct
handling of beef. Browned, lean
ground beef was arranged on the
pizza displayed at this table. K

arranged a display which includ
ed free samples of cheese, one of
the main ingredients of a pizza.

for a time during the 1:00 to 8:00
presentation.

Carlisle displayed.
The pizza contained grain,
vegetable, meat, and dairy prod
ucts. Pizza, like all of our food,
has its birth on the farm. Some
statistics were available, on
posters, to show the relationship
to agriculture through our food
supply.
