Trucklot buying interest was mixed.
Offerings were usually at the least adequ
ate with boneless skinless breasts the only
item held with a degree of confidence. Cur
rent business is still reflective of the last
week of the month, but forward buying is
optimistic, especially on the cutlets. Trade
sentiment is cautious.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
w«s generally no better ’•♦•than*** fair
and disappointing. Offerings were fully
adequate to ample and excess supplies
were competitively priced to stimulate
sales. Live supplies were mostly moderate;
weights were in a full range of light to
heavy. Processing schedules were very
heavy. Less than trucklot asking prices
were unchanged at S 3 to 64 cents. Trade
sentiment was weak, occasionally steady.
In the parts complex, boneless skinless
breasts continued to lighten as retail
inquiry developed for promotional activity.
Other parts were fully adequate to ample,
particularly wings and leg quarters.

Trading on light type fowl was generally
unchanged while sales were too few to
report on heavy hens. Offerings continued
to satisfy desired processing requirements.
Demand moderate. Finished product sales
were seasonal with some additional activi
ty noted due to government purchase prog
rams. Undertone at least steady.

GLANCE:
Prices were unchanged to lower in the
Northeast and Midwest, and unchanged
elsewhere. The market tone was barely
steady to weak. Demand was light to mod
erate in all channels with occasional retail
specials creating improved demand. Sup
plies of white eggs were adequate to
ample, and brown eggs in New England
remained closely balanced. Breaking stock
supplies were fUUy adequate from regular
suppliers, and demand was light. Light hen
offerings were fully adequate for the light
demand, and prices were too few to report.
