SUMMARY: Compared to last week:
Feeder steers and heifers Sl.oo-52.00 low
er. Demand for feeder cattle light to mod
erate. Steer and heifer calves 53.00-56.00
lower. Demand light for calves as fanners
busy themselves planting wheat. Bulk of
calves in fairly fleshy to fleshy condition
and unweaned. Fall weather beginning
with warm dayin mostly medium flesh.
Weigh-ups ranged from gaunt to full on
yearlings and mostly gaunt to average on
calves. Slaughter cows weak to 51.50 low
er. Slaughter bulls weak. Packer demand
moderate at lower levels. Demand for bred
cows and pairs moderate at best in light of
Monday's lower calf matket. Receipts this
week 8,800; last week 9,415; last year
8,335. Supply consisted of 61 percent year
lings and calves over 600 lbs.; 34 percent
calves under 600 lbs.; 3 percent cows and
bulls. Prices follow with weighted average
weight and price in parenthesis.
