Somerset Fall Classic

—Some 44 animals consigned for
sale at the Somerset Fall Classic,
brought a total of $69,095, about
$4,300 less than the 1993 total
when 42 animals were sold at the
Classic.
Eighteen milking animals sold
for a total of $31,392, or an aver
age of $1,744. Seventeen bred
heifers averaged $1,559 for a total
of $26,503.
Open heifers averaged $1,425 a
piece totaling $9,975 for the seven
animals. Two calves under three
months were sold, one for $B5O
and the other, $375. Total was
$1,225 and the average was $613.
Fred England from Williams
burg was top buyer. He bought
eight animals, but the total spent
by England wasn’t disclosed.
Todd Lohr from Hooversville
paid the top price of $2,450 to
consignors Paul Kinsinger and
Henry Kinsinger of Oakland, Md.
for Triple-Silo Mark Miranda.

Somerset County Junior Holstein
Club which is raising money to
attend the National Holstein Con
vention in Pittsburgh that’s com
ing up next summer. Thanks to
some seven consignors, the junior
club received some $1,400 at the
sale, IS percent of the $9,600 total
grossed by animals donated to
help the kids.
