Holstein Coordinates Junior Herd STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) The Pennsylvania Holstein Association has announced that it is coordinating a state Junior Holstein Herd to represent the state at the Grand National Junior Holstein Show, in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 5. Deadline for submit ting an animal for con sideration is Oct. 3. The invitation to app ly to join the state herd is open to any Pa. Junior Holstein members inter ested in going to Louisville. There are four basic requirements must be met to be considered for the event. • The applicant must be a member of the Junior Holstein Association. • The individual must complete and send a participation applica tion to the Pa. Holstein by the Oct. 3 deadline. • The individual must attend the Grand National Junior Show on Nov. 5 and show his, or her, own animal. • The individual must also show the animal in the 1994 Eastern National Holstein Show, scheduled for Thursday Sept. 29 at the stale Farm Show Com plex in Harrisburg, as part of the Pa. All- American Dairy Show. By taking a positive approach, however, we may be able to turn these chal lenges into opportunity to increase our customers’ confidence in the egg production process,” said Mac McLaurin (President, Egg Asso ciation of America) in a speech before participants of the New England Poultry Association’s management conference. The dairy showmanship judge was Jonda Crosby, an exten sion agent from Berks County. industry, government, scientists, and customers to woik together to develop science-based ways to meet the public’s needs and ex pectations regarding the three challenges. Phase I creates an awareness of the need for such a program. In Phase 11, there is an Education, Production Practices, and a Research section under each of the challenges.
