ALTOONA (Blair Co.)
Cooperative education, leadership
development and young adult fel
lowship were the benefits for the
SO young cooperative members
that participated in the Pennsylva
nia Council of Cooperatives
(PCC) Young Leader Conference
held recently at the Ramada Hotel.
Highlighting the 3-day confer
ence was a series of presentations
by nationally known speaker. Dr.
Ron Hansen of the University of
Nebraska. Dr. Hansen addressed a
variety of farm family issues,
including the importance of effec
tive communications and listening
skills.
In addition to Hansen’s work
shops, participants also learned
about cooperative basics and spent
several hours involved in a hands
on “Management for Success”
workshop. Not only did the parti
cipants gain valuable farm man
agement skills, but they set goals
and developed a personal mission
statement
The young cooperative mem
bers also participated in round
table discussions with cooperative
leaders and learned cooperative
principles demonstrated through a
game and skit.
Region leaders that assisted
with the 1994 conference included
conference chair couple, Robert
and Joy Jackson. Brownsville;
