Amy Plummer, of Chal font, on Wednesday showed the supreme cow of the 1994 Allen town Fair, after years of competi tion and just missing previously. Plummer’s Top-O-Hill Juno Patches, a junior 2-year-old Jersey, was also this year’s grand champ ion Jersey of the Montgomery County Fair, and at the 4-H district show. Amy, who was all smiles with receiving the best of breed honors for her young cow, said she will be showing her in the 4-H state show on Sept 26, and in the Mid- Atlantic Regional Jersey Show, Sept 29. during the Pennsylvania All-American Dairy Show. - Lizzie Moser, of Gilbertsville, showed the Allentown Fair supreme dairy bull, a young Hols tein calf, that won out over an injured yearling Jersey bull showed by Mildred Seeds, of Downingtown, owner of Top-O- Hill Farm. The homebred Holstein calf was Penny’s Place Celtic Magnum. Moser, who lives on a small far mette, raises young dairy animals as 4-H projects and keeps breeding animals at another farm. Moser also showed the only Milking Shorthorn of the show, and received recognition from the judge. Dr. Gary Rogers, a Penn State University dairy cow geneti cist, who said that it was definetly worthy of higher competition and a blue ribbon. She also showed several young Holsteins. In the Brown Swiss show, a junior 2-year-old shown by Katie Sterner, of Bechtelsville, was named senior and grand champion of the show, but was not entered in the best udder class and the reserve senior and reserve grand champ ion. a 14-year-old large-framed cow, owned by Carl and Ruth Miller of Tamaqua, was named best udder. Katie Sterner also showed the junior champion, Swiss, while Jon Sterner showed the reserve junior champion. In the Ayrshire show. In the Guernsey show, Karen Wolfgang, of Tamaqua, showed the grand champion, a junior 2-year-old, while Carl Miller showed a 5-ycar-old cow to take reserve senior and reserve grand champion. In the Holstein show the grand champion was a 3-year-old cow shown by Delaware Valley Col lege, of Doylestown, while the reserve grand champion was a junior 2-year-old shown by Stacey Dietrich of Germansville. In the Jersey show. Tank Gaf fney. of Downingtown. showed the reserve grand champion to Plummer’s grand champion. Gaf fney works with Mildred Seeds at her Top-O-Hill farm and ironical ly, though different owners, all the animals in the ring for the selection of seniorchampion had the Top-O- Hill breeder’s prefix.
