the Maryland State Fair in Timo
nium. In the swine barn, the
week’s activities culminated in the
selection of the supreme champ
ion female, supreme champion
market barrow, and supreme
champion pair of market barrows.
Coy Farmer, a Chester White
and Hampshire breeder from
Prague, Okla., judged the open
class show of approximately 400
swine entries.
A Duroc gilt bred and owned by
David Holloway of Glen Rock,
Pa., won the supreme champion
female of all breeds. The gilt
weighed approximately 290
pounds and had a backfat of .78.
Holloway also took top honors in
the supreme champion pair of
market barrows group class with a
pair of Durocs.
