    Lewis Shows Grand Champion
HONESDALE (Wayne Co.)
Scott Lewis, in his final year of
4-H competition, captured grand
champion market hog honors at
the Wayne County Fair on August
11.
His champion entry, a
262-pound Hamp/Duroc cross
bred gilt, was described by show
judge Ken Fetterolf. Centre Hall
as an extremely lean hog with a
tremendous loin, one of the best
he had seen all summer.
Lewis’ champion was also
champion heavyweight Scott also
was awarded the champion show
man honor in the showmanship
competition held on August 9.
Showmanship judge was Matt
Zerby, Beavertown.

Reserve champion honors went
to Eric Smith on a Hamp/Duroc
crossbred barrow weighing 242
pounds. This is Eric’s first cham
pion. Eric is a member of the
Cherry Ridge 4-H Club.
Erin Kilker showed her
249-peund York/Duroc hog to re
serve champion showman honors.
Erin is a member of the Pleasant
Mount Go-Getters 4-H Club.
In the junior livestock sale, 186
hogs were sold. Lewis’ champion
brought $4 per pound and sold to
Dr. Henry Ncbzydosld, veterinar
ian. Smith’s reserve .champion
brought $3.95 per pound and sold
to The Honesdale National Bank.
Overall, 186 hogs averaged $1,40
per pound.
