Tests Show Steers
Right On Target
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Re
sults just tabulated from steer
feeding tests in Kansas, Virginia,
and Ohio show that Polled Here

Top owner groups and sire groups
posted yield grades of 2.0 to 2.6.
Ribeye area/cwt. in the leading
groups ranged from 1.137 to 1.05
sq. in., and the leading average
daily gains ranged from 4.6 to 3.6
lb. Every steer in the top groups
graded Choice.
At the Kansas National Test,
held at Mid America Feedyard,
Great Bend, Kan., top pens ranged
from 2.16 to 2.66 on yield grade;
1.20 to 1.12 for ribeye area/cwt.;
4.21 to 3.76 for average daily
gain, with all lop groups landing
in the Choice quality grade.

posted costs of gain from $0.46 to
$0.47 for the leaders, with average
daily gains for top individuals
ranged from 3.93 to 3.73 lb. More
