Reiff, ’Rainbow’ Garner Lancaster Market Lamb Champion
LAMPETER (Lancaster Co.)
Lisa Reiff paraded her champ
ion light heavyweight market lamb
“Rainbow” to grand champion of
the Lancaster County 4-H Sheep
Show last week at the Lampeter
Fairgrounds.
Lisa, 16, daughter of Lloyd and
Laura Reiff, Strasburg, sold her
HS-pound Suffolk grand champ
ion to Weaver Insurance at the sale
for $8 a pound.
At the 4-H sheep show, Brandon
Ziegler had the reserve lamb
champion, a 105-pound middle
weight winner, which sold for
$2.70 a pound to Willie the Butch
er. Brandon also exhibited the
champion lightweight lamb.
Lisa Reiff was also named grand
champion showman. Reserve
showman was Regina Landis, and
Kathy Musscr was honored as
novice champion.
In other sale results, the
101-pound reserve champion
middle weight champion, shown
by Kendall Reiff, was sold to
Fox’s Market for $2.40 a pound.
Allison Hughes showed the
reserve champion light heavy
weight Amy Bollinger had the
reserve champion heavyweight
and Sarah Boyd showed he reserve
champion lightweight
The market lamb sale averaged
a record $2.32 a pound for the
lambs, with a sale total of
$8,373.60.
In the breeding sheep show, Jes
sica Stoltzfus, Elizabethtown,
exhibited the supreme champion
ewe, a Dorset yearling ewe. April
Lehman showed the champion
bred-and-owned ewe.

A tractor-driving contest began
at noon. Then, sheep, swine and
beef steer began to arrive. But this
was only the beginning.
Monday evening saw the para
de and the crowds that followed.
The Farm Queen Contest and the
Carroll County 4-H Performing
Arts Talent Show kept the crowds
alive until late in the evening.
Throughout the week, rabbits,
poultry, dairy cattle, food, photo
graphy and garden exhibits
arrived. A mule pull, a horse pull,
an antique tractor pull, and an
antique horse-drawn carriage
show pulled crowds in each night,
along with an array of entertain

o. The petting zoo was a hit for the
very young, with llamas, goats,
sheep, horses and a donkey, rab
bits and more. An English and a
Western Horse show took place,
too.
One of the most well known
events at the Carroll County 4-H
and FFA Fair and the biggest fun
draiser for next year’s fair was the
annual cake auction, which was
held on Wednesday evening,
August 3. The event raised
$23,850 for the Carroll County
Fair Board. One hundred and
thirty-nine champion and blue rib
bons cakes were raffled off, but it
was the grand champion baked
item that took the cake. Amanda

baked the blueberry cake using
blueberries from 100 or so
