governor, Tom Ridge, is slated to
speak at the Annual PA Ag Repu
blican’s Fund Raiser Chicken Bar-
B-Que. The event will again be
held in conjunction with Ag Prog
ress Days Wednesday, August 17
at the VFW Pavilion located along
Rt. 45, approximately 3 miles east
of Ag Progress Days at the Rock
Springs Research Farm.
The evening will begin with an
ice tea social at 5:30 p.m. followed
by the meal at 6 p.m.
Tom Ridge believes in the
importance of agriculture to the
commonwealth. He plans to work
with agricultural leaders to
increase the viability and profita
bility of agriculture in the future.

Bollinger. Manheim. She’s a
freshman at Manheim Central.
Nathan Kreider, 12, a seventh
grader at Elizabethtown, was cho
sen reserve champion showman.
Nathan, son of Richard and Peg
Kreider, Elizabethtown, showed
his 232-pound “Blue Butt" hog.
In all, there were a total of 200
hogs and 68 exhibitors. Judge for
the show was Keith Bard, a York.
Duroc, and Hampshire breeder
from Portage.
