LEBANON (Lebanon Co.)
On July 6, the senior division team
from the Lebanon County Junior
Holstein Club placed second in
the 1994 National Junior Holstein
Dairy Quiz Bowl Contest held in
Seattle, Wash.
The four-member team con
sisted of Jennifer Bashore, Steve
Bollinger, Jeff Hostetter. and
Karen Lentz. The team was coach
ed by Duane Nolt, David J. Lentz,
and Nelson Bomgardner.
The team entered the double
elimination competition seeded
first out of 16 teams. They
defeated teams from Idaho,
Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin to
reach the finals.
In the finals, the Pennsylvania
team lost a second time to the New
England States Team. This team
was the first from Lebanon Coun
ty to advance to the finals.
The 1994 team was the fourth
Lebanon County team to represent
Pennsylvania at this national con
test over the last five years.
The team’s trip to Seattle was
made possible through sub and
candy sales, food booths, and loc
al and statewide business contri
butions. The donations from 60
people and businesses were great
ly appreciated by the team
members.
