Farmers Fair
The 63rd New Holland Farmers
Fair will be held from Wednesday,
Sept. 28 through Saturday, Oct 1.
Exhibits will be received from
2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 27. Ex
hibitor numbers can be obtained at
the Ford New Holland building on
Franklin Street for crafts, baked
and canned goods, fruit nuts, jel
lies and handcrafts. (Use the dis
pensary entrance.)
Exhibitor numbers can also be
obtained at the New Holland Ele
mentary School for 4-H and youth
needlecraft, adult needlecraft, and
art and photography. These cate
gories will be displayed at the
school.
Floral exhibits will be received
at the Boy Scout home on South
Roberts Avenue from 2-8 p.m.
Models will be received at the
Sportsman’s Shop on Main Street
Hay, tobacco, com and small
grains will be received in the 4-H
tent (Sales Stable Lot on Fulton
Street) from 2-8 p.m.
The fair will feature four fun
packed days and nights starting
with the bake sale on Wednesday
at noon in front of the Ford New
Holland Building. The Spectacle
of Bands Parade will begin at 7
p.m. that night.
Preliminary and elimination
competition for the Fireman’s Tug
Of War will begin Thursday night
at 8 p.m. in front of the judges
stand on Franklin Street, with the
semifinals on Friday night and the

Happenings
finals on Saturday night at the
same time and place.
Friday is Kids Day, featuring a
puppet show from 4-S p.m. at the
judges stand on Franklin Street
followed by the drawing for prizes
at S p.m. This year the pedal pow
er tractor pull for children ages
3-10 has been added to the list of
events. Kids 3-6 will compete Fri
day. at 5:30 p.m., at the judges
stand on Franklin Street and kids
7-10 will have their competition
on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.,
same place.
Sheep and swine will be on ex
hibit all week at the Sales Stables
on- Fulton Street until 6:30 p.m.
Friday, when the sale will take
place.
The fair closes Saturday with a
full day of entertainment. Begin
ning at 7 a.m., at the New Holland
Community Park, the horseshoe
pitching contest will commence.
Main Street will come alive
Saturday afternoon as pets and ba
bies will parade before the
crowds. The pet parade is sche
duled to begin at 2 p.m. and the
baby parade will begin at 4 p.m. A
grand prize and runner-up will be
awarded as well as prizes in 12
other categories.
Exhibits will be open daily at
the Ford New Holland Building,
New Holland Elementary School,
Boy Scout Home, and Sports
man’s Shop.
As in the past years, the mid
way will be open daily featuring
rides, games, and food booths of
every kind.
